Dilated Cervix
A dilated cervix may be necessary when treating human papilloma virus conditions such as ASCUS.
The procedure is rather easy; it can be performed in the office with or without anesthesia. After it some complications are possible, such as bleeding or (in rare cases) perforation of the uterus. In general, it is a very safe procedure and has been performed for many years to treat and diagnose numerous disorders.

Dilated Cervix -
Human Papilloma Virus, ASCUS
"D&C" is conducted if a Pap smear test doesn't clearly indicate whether abnormalities are caused by problem in the cervix or in the endometrium. During the procedure the doctor enlarges the cervix and scrapes remove a sample of the tissue for analysis. A dilated cervix may be necessary when treating human papilloma virus conditions such as ASCUS.
