Cervix Examination
Cervix examination using a colposcopy and additional sampling is recommended for ASCUS Pap smear determined patients.
If the pap smear test results find abnormal cervical cells you may need a repeat pap test in a few weeks to see if the cells repaired themselves without treatment. If the dysplasia is more severe the doctor may recommend a coposcopy, for a closer look at the cervical tissue.

Cervix Examination -
ASCUS, Pap Smear
A cervical exam will include a Pap smear test to detect abnormal cell growth (cervical dysplasia). This is usually done by gently scraping off loose cells at the cervical opening and sent to a lab for evaluation. The color, uterine positions, and presence of discharge are also noted. Cervix examination using a colposcopy and additional sampling is recommended for ASCUS Pap smear determined patients.
