The neck of the uterus penetrated by a canal protrudes into the vagina and allows the menstrual period to pass from the uterus into the vagina, and sperm to pass into the uterus. This neck is about one inch long. Given its anatomy, cervix is prone to diseases for which cryosurgery or LEEP procedure is not uncommon.
